The Ministry of Agriculture and Animal Welfare is preparing to launch the mobile version of the Dhanduveriya application ahead of the upcoming month of Ramadan, with the aim of providing farmers with easier access to key agricultural information and services.

The Dhanduveriya platform was first launched in 2023 as a web-based application. The ministry has now developed a mobile application to expand accessibility and improve user experience. The mobile app incorporates modern digital tools to support agricultural development, attract investment, facilitate project implementation at island level, and strengthen the collection of agricultural statistics.

The ministry said the beta version of the farmer-focused mobile application has already been tested, with feedback gathered from users. Work is currently underway to address issues and suggestions raised during the beta phase. The ministry aims to complete the final version and begin piloting the application in selected areas before Ramadan.

Once launched, the Dhanduveriya app will offer a range of application-based services, including the provision of technical farming information and a crop planning feature that automatically guides farmers through different stages of planting and harvesting as timelines approach. The app will also include a community forum for technical discussions and problem-solving related to agricultural activities.

In addition, the platform will feature a digital marketplace enabling farmers to sell agricultural products and connect directly with buyers, along with regular updates on market price changes for agricultural produce.

The ministry noted that general technical information on the app will be accessible to all users, while interactive features such as the discussion forum and agricultural marketplace will require login through the eFaas system.
