The Elections Commission of Maldives (EC) has received 128 complaints so far regarding the register of eligible voters for the Local Council Elections and Women’s Development Committee (WDC) elections scheduled to be held on 4 April 2026.

The ECM released details of all complaints submitted against the voter register up to Sunday, confirming that a total of 128 cases have been lodged. The most common issues raised relate to changes in registered addresses and requests to remove individuals from the register due to death.

The commission said complaints can be submitted through its online portal, My Portal, until 3.00 pm on 18 January 2026. During this period, individuals may submit complaints to request corrections, additions or deletions required to validate the voter register.

The EC noted that when applying to add a person to the register, remove a name, or amend existing information, applicants must submit a copy of an official document to substantiate the complaint. Political parties may also submit complaints through their designated portal provided by the commission.

A total of 294,937 people are currently eligible to vote in the 2026 Local Council and WDC elections. This includes 144,527 women and 150,410 men.
