Police inspect over 12,000 vehicles in December 2025

The Maldives Police Service has reported inspecting 12,424 vehicles and taking action against 1,554 vehicles last month as part of ongoing efforts to curb dangerous driving.
Police released statistics outlining enforcement activities carried out during the month, aimed at improving road safety and taking action against traffic violations. According to the data, a total of 27,186 vehicles were stopped during inspections, including 12,752 two-wheelers and 14,404 four-wheelers. Of these, 12,424 vehicles were fully inspected, comprising 5,765 two-wheelers and 6,659 four-wheelers.
Police said 10,870 vehicles were issued with advice for minor violations. These included 5,037 two-wheelers and 5,833 four-wheelers. Enforcement action was taken against 1,554 vehicles for dangerous driving, involving 728 two-wheelers and 826 four-wheelers. In addition, 27 two-wheelers were stopped specifically for dangerous driving.
During the same period, 260 vehicles were stopped for driving without a valid licence. These included 241 two-wheelers and 27 four-wheelers. Police also towed 683 vehicles for traffic violations, consisting of 323 two-wheelers and 360 four-wheelers.
Parking violations accounted for a further 1,367 vehicles being towed, including 661 two-wheelers and 706 four-wheelers.
