The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has issued a travel advisory for Maldivians planning to visit Bangladesh, as the country prepares for its upcoming parliamentary elections on 12 February 2026.

According to the advisory, Bangladesh will suspend on-arrival visa services from January 15 to February 15 as part of enhanced security measures ahead of the polls.

The Ministry has urged all travellers to obtain the required visa before departure through the High Commission of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh in Hulhumalé. Travellers are advised to complete visa applications well in advance to avoid inconvenience and ensure smooth travel.

For further information or assistance, individuals may contact the High Commission by telephone on 3320859 or via email at [email protected].
