The Ministry of Cities, Local Government and Public Works has announced that a maximum of two canned tuna cases can be withdrawn using a single ID card under this year’s Roadha Hadhiyaa programme.

Speaking to State media, State Minister for Cities, Local Government and Public Works Moosa Fathuhy Adam said that early preparations are being made to address issues reported last year, including cases where landlords collected tuna cases allocated for tenants.

Under the revised arrangements, one household will be entitled to one case of canned tuna, while a single ID card may be used to register and collect tokens for a maximum of two households only. Once an ID card has been used to register two households, it cannot be used again to obtain additional tokens.

“Each household will receive one case. One ID card can be used to register for two households only, and once that limit is reached, no further tokens can be obtained using the same ID,” the State Minister explained.

He added that registration for the distribution is now open through the Roadha Hadhiyaa portal, and tokens can already be obtained online. Any individual aged 18 and above is eligible to register to collect a token.

The State Minister further clarified that in situations where multiple households are linked to different domestic meters, another adult household member’s ID card may be used to register the additional household, subject to the two-household limit per ID.

In addition to the canned tuna distribution, the Government has also announced electricity bill relief for the upcoming Ramadan. Under the measure, households billed at the domestic tariff will have their electricity bills capped at a maximum of MVR 400 for the month of Ramadan.

The Ministry confirmed that distribution of canned tuna cases under the Roadha Hadhiyaa programme will commence on Saturday in the Malé area.
