In preparation for the upcoming peak electricity demand season and the month of Ramadan, the State Electric Company Limited has commissioned new 1,000 kilowatt generator sets in Kaafu Guraidhoo and Alifu Alifu Ukulhas.

STELCO said the newly commissioned generator has increased Guraidhoo’s total power generation capacity to 2,960 kilowatts. The generator installed in Ukulhas is also expected to enhance service reliability and meet increased demand during the peak season and Ramadan.

Electricity consumption in the Maldives typically rises between March and June each year, driven by seasonal factors. This increase is further amplified when the month of Ramadan falls within the same period, as residents spend more time at home, resulting in higher electricity usage.
