First Lady Sajidha Mohamed has highlighted the importance of women’s participation in politics and national service.

The First Lady made the remarks during a meeting with women candidates of the People’s National Congress (PNC) contesting the upcoming Council Elections in Malé City.

During the meeting, the First Lady inquired about the progress of the candidates’ campaign activities and encouraged women candidates to continue their political engagement with honesty and sincerity.

Increasing the representation of women in elected positions has been identified as a key priority by President Dr Mohamed Muizzu, with the Administration placing strong emphasis on women’s participation in governance and public service.

The PNC is fielding the highest number of candidates for the upcoming Local Council and Women’s Development Committee (WDC) elections. Party candidates are currently engaged in active campaigning across Malé area and the atolls.
