The Maldives is being featured at the Travel & Adventure Show New York, with destination promotion activities taking place on 24 and 25 January at the Javits Center in the United States.

According to Visit Maldives Corporation (VMC), the destination’s participation is being carried out in collaboration with the Permanent Mission of the Maldives to the United Nations in New York. The event brings together travel professionals, media representatives and members of the public, offering an opportunity to engage directly with potential travellers from the North American market.

At the exhibition, visitors are being provided with information on travel planning, destination experiences and practical travel considerations through digital and interactive content. VMC is also gathering feedback from attendees to better understand travel preferences and trends among North American travellers.

The Maldives’ presence at the event was further highlighted by the participation of Ambassador Dr Ali Naseer Mohamed, the Maldives’ Permanent Representative to the United Nations and Ambassador to the United States, who took part in a panel discussion during the show. The discussion focused on the Maldives’ tourism profile and its approach to sustainable and responsible tourism development.

Tourism figures indicate continued growth from the United States market, with arrivals increasing from 47,891 in 2019 to 66,443 visitors in 2025, reflecting steady interest in the Maldives as a long-haul leisure destination.

VMC stated that participation in the Travel & Adventure Show New York forms part of wider engagement efforts in North America, alongside ongoing collaboration with travel agents, digital platforms, and media partners. The initiative is aimed at maintaining visibility in the market and strengthening connections with travellers and industry stakeholders in the United States.
