People’s National Congress (PNC) MP for the North Thinadhoo constituency Saudulla Hilmy has dismissed claims that development works on Kaadedhdhoo Airport have been halted, stating that the Government remains engaged in efforts to move the project forward.
Addressing concerns surrounding Kaadedhdhoo Airport during the launch of the PNC’s campaign in Thinadhoo City , MP Saudulla said discussions are ongoing to resolve outstanding matters linked to the project. He noted that the airport development involves agreements with multiples parties, and that progress would continue following negotiations between them. He added that the Government is currently working with the companies involved to advance the development of the airport, expressing hope that the project would be completed in the near future.
The MP said work on the tertiary hospital pledged by the President in Thinadhoo is underway, and that once completed, the facility will provide comprehensive tertiary-level healthcare services. He also highlighted housing as a key priority, stating that the Government is taking steps to address housing needs on the island, with construction of 50 housing units in Thinadhoo scheduled to begin this month.
Referring to criticism from the opposition, the MP said the Government’s development projects in the islands have faced repeated scrutiny. He cautioned that stalled governance could slow development momentum, and urged residents to support candidates who would work in coordination with the Government to complete ongoing projects.
MP Saudulla called on the people of Thinadhoo to elect PNC councillors and support their mayoral candidate Mohamed Ajeeb, saying this would help ensure that development initiatives underway on the island are completed in a manner that delivers tangible benefits to the community.
