MVR 100 Bill ---

The Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA) has brought a new stock of MVR 100 banknotes from the Ran Dhihafaheh currency series.

In a statement, Maldives Monetary Authority said a new stock of MVR 100 notes has been brought in to address the shortage, with the reprinted notes to circulate alongside existing MVR 100 banknotes.

The authority noted that a similar measure was taken last year, when new MVR 100 notes were introduced due to limited availability.

The Ran Dhihafaheh banknote series was introduced in January 2016 as part of efforts to modernise Maldivian currency. According to MMA, the series incorporates enhanced security features and design improvements aimed at durability, ease of handling and counterfeit prevention.

Among the security features highlighted by the central bank is the use of ultraviolet elements, under which the serial number and selected features on the face of the note become visible when exposed to ultraviolet light, while remaining invisible under normal lighting conditions.
