Commissioner of Police Ismail Naveen has retired from the Maldives Police Service (MPS), concluding more than three decades in law enforcement.
Naveen confirmed his retirement in a post on social media, saying he formally stepped down from the post. He said it had been an honour to serve the country over an extended period, adding that his trust in and respect for the police service remained unchanged following his departure.
Naveen was appointed Commissioner of Police on 10 June 2025, following the resignation of his predecessor Ali Shujau in April 2025. He had served as Acting Commissioner after Shujau stepped down before being formally appointed to the post. Prior to assuming the role, Naveen served as Deputy Commissioner of Police.
He joined the Maldives Police Service on 7 July 1994 and served in various leadership roles across operational, investigative, administrative and support departments over a 32-year career, according to police records.
