According to project details, renovations at Sultan Park include restoration of the park’s viewing structure, treehouse, walkways and children’s play areas. Parts of Republic Square have already been reopened to the public as works near completion.
The President said the Government had initiated the redevelopment of several structures that had fallen into disrepair over the years, adding that maintaining public spaces is an important aspect of urban governance.
Development works at Rasfannu are also ongoing. The project has been contracted to Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) and Male’ Water and Sewerage Company (MWSC). MTCC is undertaking drainage system installation and wall repairs, while MWSC is renovating the Rasfannu pavilion and constructing new restroom facilities. The ground floor of the pavilion has been completed and is currently in use, with the overall Rasfannu project expected to be finalised by March.
