Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) has completed the reclamation of 15 hectares of land at Giraavaru Falhu, representing 15.44 percent of the 97.15 hectares under its scope of works which commenced on 30 January 2026. A total of 167.15 hectares planned to be reclaimed from Giraavaru Falhu, with MACL responsible for reclaiming 97.15 hectares of the overall project area.
According to MACL, reclamation works are being carried out using two dredgers with a capacity of 35,500 cubic metres per cycle and 22,000 cubic metres per cycle. The project follows President Dr Mohamed Muizzu’s earlier announcement that Giraavaru Falhu would be the next major reclamation site after the completion of Hulhumalé Phase III, as part of efforts to expand land availability and address infrastructure needs in the Greater Malé region.
