Maldives stands in solidarity with Arab Islamic nations: President

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has reaffirmed the Maldives’ solidarity with Arab Islamic nations amid the escalating conflict in the Middle East.

Speaking at a press briefing on Monday, President Dr Muizzu said he has initiated contact with leaders of Arab Islamic countries to convey the Maldives’ support and the goodwill of the Maldivian people during the ongoing crisis.

The President said he spoke on Sunday night with the President of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. During the call, President Dr Muizzu conveyed that the Maldives stands firmly with the UAE at this time.

He added that additional calls would be made to other regional leaders, including the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, the Emir of Kuwait, the King of Bahrain and the leadership of Oman.

Describing the situation as deeply concerning, the President conveyed sympathy over the losses faced by Arab Islamic countries and reiterated the Maldives’ commitment to standing in solidarity with them.
