President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has announced that the People’s National Congress (PNC) will hold its congress in October, following a decision by the party council.

Speaking at the PNC’s “Greater Addu” event on Saturday night, the President said the congress will provide a significant opportunity for members seeking to advance politically within the party. He assured that the congress will be conducted in a fair, comprehensive, and well-organised manner, reflecting the party’s commitment to democracy and teamwork.

The President highlighted the rapid growth of the PNC, noting that membership has expanded from 3,000 in November 2023 to 75,000 today, with a target of surpassing 100,000 members before the congress. He invited aspiring politicians and citizens interested in public service to join the party, while encouraging existing members to re-engage with renewed energy.

He stressed that the PNC will continue to put the interests of the people first, working collectively to strengthen the party system and uphold democratic values.
