The Government has condemned the recent attack targeting the Consulate General of the United Arab Emirates in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq.

In a statement issued by Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Wednesday, the Government said attacks on diplomatic missions constitute a serious violation of the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations and undermine established norms governing diplomatic engagement between states.

The Maldives also emphasised the importance of ensuring the protection of diplomatic premises and personnel. The Government further expressed its solidarity with the Government and the people of the United Arab Emirates following the incident.
