The Maldives Hajj Corporation has commenced the distribution of Hajj kits and luggage to Maldivian pilgrims for this year’s pilgrimage, with the items being issued today at the Islamic Centre Hall.

The Hajj kit includes luggage cases, hand luggage, towel bags, waist pouches, men’s ihram clothing, prayer cards and informational booklets on performing Hajj. The hand luggage is designed to carry essential items required during the five days of the pilgrimage, while the information guide aims to assist pilgrims in understanding the rituals. Prayer cards provided are compact and designed to be water-resistant for ease of use.

The corporation said all items in the kit follow a unified theme and have been tailored to suit the needs of the journey. Each luggage item will also carry identifying details of pilgrims, with additional information tags and neck cards to be issued during briefing sessions.

The first flight of Maldivian pilgrims is scheduled to depart on May 15, with subsequent flights set for May 17, 18 and 19. The corporation said efforts are ongoing to enhance services for pilgrims this year, including improvements to accommodation and the provision of essential services at an improved standard.

A total quota of 1,000 pilgrims has been allocated to the Maldives for Hajj each year, which also includes individuals travelling to provide support services for pilgrims.
