The Maldives Industrial Fisheries Company (MIFCO) has held discussions with the Maldives Embassy in Japan to explore potential collaboration with Japanese companies in the fisheries sector.
The discussions took place during an official visit by a MIFCO delegation to Tokyo and focused on opportunities for Japanese participation in initiatives aimed at adding value to Maldivian fisheries products and developing the mariculture industry.
During the meeting at the embassy, Deputy Ambassador Ahmed Aadil and Second Secretary Hawwa Samha met with the delegation and discussed ways to facilitate cooperation with Japanese companies. Embassy officials also expressed readiness to provide the necessary support to help connect MIFCO with potential partners in Japan.
As part of the visit, the MIFCO delegation also held formal discussions with the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO). The talks focused on expanding the presence of Maldivian fisheries products in the Japanese market, which remains a key destination for the country’s tuna exports.
