The Ministry of Construction, Housing and Infrastructure has signed an agreement with the Housing Development Corporation (HDC) to develop 50 housing units in Haa Dhaalu Vaikaradhoo, in efforts to address housing needs in the island and improve living conditions in the outer atolls.
The agreement was signed by State Minister Hassan Rasheed on behalf of the ministry, while HDC Managing Director Brigadier General (Rtd) Ali Zuhair signed on behalf of the corporation, with the project set to deliver 50 three-bedroom housing units to support local housing demand.
According to the ministry, the project has been assigned a completion period of 480 days and forms part of Government initiatives aimed at strengthening housing infrastructure across the atolls, particularly in islands facing increasing population and housing pressure.
The development is expected to ease housing constraints in Vaikaradhoo while contributing to wider efforts to enhance accessibility to adequate housing, as the Government continues to expand similar projects nationwide through HDC and other State-owned enterprises.
