Maldives Zakat House has used MVR 500,000 from Zakat al-Fitr funds to deliver food assistance to residents in Gaza, with the aid distributed through Isra Association Maldives as part of ongoing humanitarian efforts.
The assistance was provided in the form of food packs containing essential items such as rice, cooking oil and other basic supplies, distributed to communities affected by the genocide.
Zakat House said a total of MVR 15,009,749 was collected as Zakat al-Fitr during Ramadan this year, marking the highest amount received in the past three years, which has also enabled increased support for both international humanitarian efforts and local beneficiaries.
As part of the annual distribution, MVR 6,000 was allocated to each individual registered, in line with the policy of ensuring equitable distribution of zakat funds among eligible recipients.
Isra Association Maldives, a non-governmental organisation focused on humanitarian assistance and advocacy for Palestine, supported the delivery of aid to Gaza, particularly for communities affected by the ongoing crisis.
