Vice President Uz Hussain Mohamed Latheef has stated that President Dr Mohamed Muizzu is taking active measures to shield the Maldives from the impacts of ongoing global conflicts.

Speaking at a ceremony in Gaafu Dhaalu Faresmaathodaa to mark the commencement of land reclamation and harbour development projects, the Vice President said the Government is working to ensure that the public remains protected from external shocks. He added that these efforts are being carried out alongside the delivery of key development pledges.

The Vice President noted that despite challenges inherited at the start of the Administration, the Government has continued to implement essential services and long-term projects with a focus on sustainability and public welfare.

He further stated that, amid global instability, the Government is managing the national economy in a way that ensures uninterrupted access to basic needs. This includes efforts to secure diverse sources of financing to address existing debt obligations and loans.

The Vice President described these measures as a reflection of President Dr Mohamed Muizzu’s leadership and commitment to the Maldivian people.

He also highlighted the role of Parliament in advancing Government initiatives, noting that the previous Government had operated with a Parliament controlled by an opposition party, yet still received approval for its proposed budget, reflecting the cooperation of lawmakers.
