The Maldives has participated in the 11th Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Organisation of African, Caribbean and Pacific States (OACPS), held in Malabo, Equatorial Guinea from March 27 to 29.

The Maldivian delegation was led by Ambassador to the Kingdom of Belgium Geela Ali, who also attended a Special Session of the OACPS Council of Ministers held alongside the summit, with discussions focusing on strengthening cooperation among member states in areas including economic, trade and sustainable development, as well as enhancing the institutional framework of the organisation and reaffirming commitment to improving its effectiveness.

The summit follows the 50th anniversary of the OACPS, established under the Georgetown Agreement in 1975 as a platform for cooperation among member states and with international partners, including the European Union.

The Maldives, which became a full member of the OACPS in December 2022, continues to engage with member states on shared global priorities, with Ambassador Geela accompanied at the summit by Second Secretary at the Maldives Embassy in Belgium, Hassan Nawaaf.
