The Ministry of Economic Development and Trade has engaged with investors from China and Malaysia to present investment opportunities in the Maldives, in ongoing efforts to strengthen international partnerships and attract foreign investment.
Discussions held at the ministry focused on key growth sectors and potential areas for collaboration, with officials outlining the country’s economic development trajectory and highlighting opportunities for strategic investment and business expansion.
The ministry also provided an overview of the regulatory framework governing investment in the Maldives, including recent reforms aimed at creating a more conducive business environment, with amendments to foreign investment legislation and the introduction of supporting policies intended to align with internationally recognised standards.
Economic Minister Mohamed Saeed has previously stated that the revised Foreign Investment Act strengthens investor protection, while the Government continues to emphasise its commitment to facilitating sustainable investment and enhancing confidence among international partners.
