The Elections Commission (EC) has rejected allegations that the secrecy of the vote could be compromised in the upcoming Local Council and Women’s Development Committee (WDC) elections and the public referendum.

In a statement issued in response to circulating claims, the Commission described the allegations as baseless and stated that the spread of false information could undermine public confidence in the electoral process.

The EC stated that all stages of voting have been designed to ensure complete anonymity. Officials stationed at polling centres are required to follow strict procedures that prevent them from identifying how any individual casts their ballot.

To safeguard voters’ independence, each individual will be issued three separate ballot papers, enabling them to vote privately and without external influence.

The Commission reaffirmed that all arrangements are being carried out in line with established legal frameworks to ensure the integrity and confidentiality of the vote.
