President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has inaugurated the newly developed Skate Park Arena at Usfasgandu in Malé, marking a key milestone in efforts to enhance youth-focused recreational infrastructure.

Upon arrival at the ceremony, the President and First Lady Sajidha Mohamed were received by Minister of Sports, Fitness and Recreation Abdulla Rafiu.

Following the inauguration, skaters from three age groups showcased their skills at the facility. The President and First Lady also posed for a group photograph with participants and toured the arena.

The development of the Skate Park Arena forms part of broader efforts to promote youth engagement and community well-being, while expanding access to modern sporting facilities in the capital.

During the earlier phase of the project, President Dr Muizzu had highlighted the importance of establishing a permanent skating arena at Usfasgandu, stating that it would provide young people with greater opportunities to develop their skills and compete at the international level. He described the project as a significant step forward in youth development and community welfare, while also congratulating the roller skating and skateboarding community.
