Minister of Fisheries and Ocean Resources Ahmed Shiyam has stated that the Government will continue efforts to strengthen governance and deliver meaningful progress in line with public expectations, following the recent nationwide elections.

In a post shared on X, the Minister noted that participation in elections and achieving success remains a central objective of any political party. He added that electoral outcomes, whether victory or defeat, provide important opportunities for reflection, reassessment, and improvement.

Minister Shiyam described the elections as a significant moment for evaluating current priorities and identifying areas requiring further attention. He said the results help clarify both the work that lies ahead and the direction the Government must take to meet the aspirations of the people.

He also highlighted that President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to addressing these areas and delivering on public expectations. Minister Shiyam said the President’s response to the election results reflects strong democratic values.

In addition, the Minister extended congratulations to candidates and teams who secured success in the elections, while also expressing appreciation to those who contested but were unsuccessful, noting their efforts and dedication.

He further conveyed gratitude to all individuals and institutions involved in organising and conducting the elections.

The Minister also expressed special appreciation to President Dr Mohamed Muizzu, leader of the PNC, and First Lady Sajidha Mohamed for what he described as exemplary leadership and a positive example demonstrated throughout the electoral period.
