The number of private jets arriving in the Maldives has increased by 32.8 per cent compared to the same period last year, according to statistics released by Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL).

Data show that 178 private jets landed in the country between 15 and 31 March 2026, up from 134 arrivals recorded during the same period in 2025. Over the 16-day period, the Maldives recorded an average of more than 10 private jet arrivals per day.

The highest number of arrivals was recorded on 21 March, with 17 jets landing in a single day, while the lowest was observed on 26 March, with five arrivals. In comparison, the highest number recorded during the same period last year was 13 jets, while the lowest stood at two.

The Maldives Association for Travel Agencies and Tour Operators (MATATO) attributed the increase to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, noting that disruptions to commercial airline routes have led some travellers to opt for private jet travel.

The Middle East serves as a key transit region for travel to the Maldives, and flight cancellations linked to the conflict have contributed to the shift in travel patterns. Tourism organisations have stated that overall demand for travel to the Maldives remains unaffected despite the situation.
