The People’s National Congress (PNC) secured all seats in the Vashafaru Council and the Women’s Development Committee (WDC) in Saturday’s Local Council elections.

According to official results, Ahmed Sham’oon was elected President of the Vashafaru Council with 399 votes.

PNC candidate Fathimath Fareesha won the women’s council seat with 362 votes, defeating Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) candidate Aminath Waheedha, who received 189 votes.

Mohamed Zaheen, also representing PNC, was elected as a council member with 339 votes, ahead of MDP candidate Ahmed Yaanish, who secured 221 votes.

All three seats in the Women’s Development Committee were also won by PNC candidates.
