Elected members of Alifu Alifu Rasdhoo

The People’s National Congress (PNC) has secured all seats in Alifu Alifu Rasdhoo in the Local Council and Women’s Development Committee (WDC) elections.

Provisional results show that PNC candidates won all three seats on the Rasdhoo Council, as well as all seats in the WDC, in a result that reflects a significant shift in the island’s political landscape.

Ahmed Waheed, who contested on a PNC ticket, was elected President of the Rasdhoo Council with 364 votes. The remaining council seats were secured by Ahmed Wajeeh and Zeeniya Abdul Sattar, who won the women’s reserved seat.

In the WDC election, Hamdhoona Hameed was elected as President, while Zulaiha Aboobacker and Aminath Anoosa were elected as members of the committee.

Rasdhoo has historically been led by opposition-aligned candidates since the introduction of the multi-party system 18 years ago, making this outcome one of the most notable shifts in the island’s recent electoral history.
