RTL ferry services in Laamu Atoll will transition to paid operations from tomorrow, following the conclusion of the one-week free travel period introduced after the service launch.

Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) said the free travel period, offered to allow residents to familiarise themselves with the service, will end today, with passengers required to purchase tickets for travel starting tomorrow.

Tickets will be available through the RTL website and the RTL Travel App, while additional information can be obtained via MTCC’s hotline.

The Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation has announced that fares within Laamu Atoll will range from MVR 35 to MVR 125, depending on the route and distance travelled, with services continuing to operate at subsidised rates.

RTL services in Laamu Atoll were launched on March 31 as part of the Government’s ongoing efforts to expand a nationwide ferry network connecting inhabited islands. With the addition of Laamu, RTL services are now operational in 15 atolls, as the Government works towards completing nationwide coverage in the coming months.
