Chief Executive Officer of the Malé City Group of Hospitals Abdul Razzaq Haleem has assured that greater emphasis will be placed on safeguarding the mental health of healthcare workers across the institution.
The assurance was made in a message marking International Workers' Day, where he extended appreciation to staff of Dharumavantha Hospital, Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital, Vilimalé Hospital, Maldives Blood Services, and the Thalassemia and Other Haemoglobinopathies Centre for their continued service and dedication.
CEO Razzaq said this year’s Workers’ Day theme, centred on ensuring a mentally healthy working environment, holds particular significance for healthcare professionals, whose responsibilities extend beyond clinical and administrative duties to include emotional and psychological demands linked to patient care.
He noted that building a strong institution requires not only infrastructure, but also the wellbeing, dignity and safety of its workforce. He added that fostering respectful professional relationships across both clinical and non-clinical teams remains a shared responsibility.
The CEO further stated that acknowledging workplace stress should not be seen as a weakness, but as an essential step towards strengthening a compassionate and resilient healthcare system, emphasising that employee wellbeing is as important as the services delivered.
