The Maldives Meteorological Service (MET) has issued a White Alert for heavy rain and thunderstorms.

MET stated that the alert will be in effect from 5:30 p.m. to 10:30 a.m. on May 2, covering areas from Meemu Atoll to Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll.

The agency stated that heavy rainfall and thunderstorms are expected during this period, with wind gusts reaching up to 40 miles per hour.

Residents in the affected atolls are urged to take necessary precautions.
