Bank of Maldives (BML) has launched its Chartered Banker Programme aimed at expanding professional banking qualifications among its employees.

The first cohort of the programme includes 30 BML employees, who are expected to complete the qualification within two years.

The initiative follows a Memorandum of Understanding signed between BML and the Asian Institute of Chartered Bankers (AICB) in January 2026. The agreement focuses on supporting the development of banking professionals in the Maldives through Chartered Banker qualifications and professional development programmes.

BML Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director Mohamed Shareef said the programme forms part of the bank’s efforts to strengthen professional development within the institution.

The Chartered Banker Programme is being delivered through the BML Academy, which serves as the bank’s employee development platform.
