The Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA) has urged businesses to obtain the cash and coin change they require before the start of this year’s Eid al-Adha holidays.

In a statement, the MMA said Government offices will remain closed for the Eid holidays from 24 May 2026 to 30 May 2026.

However, to minimise inconvenience to the public during the holiday period, banks will open on Thursday, 28 May 2026. Banking services on that day will be available from 8:30 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.

The MMA noted that although banks will be open on 28 May, services related to the issuance of coin change and cash for the general public will not be available on that day.

The authority therefore advised businesses and members of the public to arrange the cash and coin change they may require for the Eid holiday period within this week.
