President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has inspected the ongoing redevelopment project on Boduthakurufaanu Magu as work on the road upgrade project continues.

During the visit, the President was briefed on the progress of the project by Managing Director of Maldives Transport and Contracting Company, DCP (Retired) Ahmed Saudee. Senior officials of MTCC, including Deputy Managing Director Mohamed Jamsheed, also accompanied the President during the inspection.

The redevelopment project includes upgrading sections of Boduthakurufaanu Magu with asphalt and expanding parts of the road between Izzudheen Jetty and the Henveiru Ferry Terminal. According to MTCC, the current phase of the project forms part of a three-segment development plan aimed at upgrading approximately 700 metres of roadway.

The asphalt laying works on segments one, two and three are scheduled to begin simultaneously in June. The project is being carried out based on standards applied during the redevelopment of previous sections of the road to maintain consistency across the route.

MTCC has also stated that the third segment of the project will include the development of a large parking area intended to ease congestion in the surrounding commercial area. The planned facility is expected to accommodate around 500 motorcycles. According to the company, the project is targeted for completion and reopening to the public in July.
