Minister of Defence and National Service Hassan Rasheed has held discussions with British High Commissioner to the Maldives Nick Low on strengthening bilateral relations and defence cooperation between the Maldives and the United Kingdom.

The discussions took place during a courtesy call held at the Ministry, where both sides exchanged views on further expanding cooperation between the two countries, particularly in the defence sector.

During the meeting, Minister Hassan Rasheed expressed appreciation to the United Kingdom for its continued support towards enhancing the Maldives’ defence capabilities and military development efforts.

The Maldives has continued to engage in defence cooperation and military training programmes with several partner countries, including the United Kingdom, in efforts to strengthen the operational capacity and preparedness of the Maldives National Defence Force.
