A specialised flu clinic for returning Hajj pilgrims has been opened at Hulhumalé Hospital to monitor and treat pilgrims experiencing flu-like symptoms.
The Health Protection Agency (HPA) said the clinic will operate daily from 2:00 pm to 10:00 pm, except on Fridays. Pilgrims visiting the clinic have been advised to wear face masks.
The agency urged pilgrims to seek medical attention immediately if they develop symptoms such as cough, shortness of breath or chest pain within 14 days of returning from Hajj.
The HPA also advised returning pilgrims to avoid close contact with individuals who may be at greater risk of severe illness, including pregnant women and people with weakened immune systems.
The first group of Maldivian pilgrims has already returned after completing the Hajj pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia.
The remaining pilgrims are expected to arrive in three groups, with arrivals scheduled for Sunday, Monday and Tuesday.
