The Civil Service Conference has commenced, with Minister of Education, Higher Education and Skills Development Dr Ismail Shafeeu officiating the opening ceremony.

Organised by the Civil Service Commission (CSC), the conference is held every two years as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen the Civil Service and enhance the quality of public service delivery.

This year's conference marks the fifth edition of the event since it was first launched in 2014. While the inaugural conference brought together around 80 civil servants, approximately 300 participants are attending this year's gathering, including representatives from schools, hospitals, city councils and island councils across the Maldives.

The conference programme features the presentation of 18 research papers spanning eight different fields.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, CSC President Mohamed Mujuthaz said the Civil Service is expected to undergo significant transformation in line with the Government's "Maldives 2.0" vision. He noted that the conference would serve as a platform to explore how technology can be leveraged to improve public services while addressing challenges faced by the Civil Service.

Mujuthaz expressed hope that the discussions would contribute to raising the standard of services provided to the public and help identify solutions to issues affecting civil servants.

He also highlighted that salary adjustments had been granted in November last year to civil servants whose pay had remained unchanged since 2009.

During the ceremony, the CSC also launched its Civil Service Action Plan for 2026 to 2030, which outlines the Commission's strategic priorities for the next five years. In addition, the conference abstract book was officially unveiled.
