The Maldives Customs Service has reported Government revenue of MVR 249 million for November 2024.
According to the latest statistics, total imports for November 2024 stood at MVR 4 billion, with fuel included, and MVR 3.4 billion excluding fuel. Exports during the same period reached MVR 120 million.
Food items remained the largest import category compared to November 2023, accounting for MVR 883 million, followed by machinery and mechanical appliances at MVR 717 million, and fuel at MVR 582 million. In comparison, November 2023 recorded MVR 919 million in food imports, MVR 900 million in fuel, and MVR 714 million in machinery and mechanical appliances.
The United Arab Emirates (UAE) retained its position as the Maldives' top import partner in November 2024, followed by China and India. This marks a slight shift from November 2023, when the UAE was followed by India and Singapore.
On the export front, November 2024 saw skipjack tuna (prepared or preserved) as the leading commodity at MVR 41 million, followed by frozen skipjack tuna at MVR 39 million, and frozen yellowfin tuna at MVR 9 million. Key export markets for November 2024 were the United Kingdom, Thailand, and Vietnam, compared to the previous year’s top markets, which included Thailand, the United Kingdom, Germany, and France.
