Maldives condemns deadly mosque attack in Islamabad

The Government of the Maldives has condemned the attack on a mosque in Islamabad, Pakistan, which occurred during Friday prayers on 6 February, resulting in multiple fatalities and injuries.
In a statement issued, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the Maldives strongly denounces acts of violence targeting civilians and places of worship, describing the incident as a grave violation of fundamental human values. The Government conveyed its condolences to the Government and people of Pakistan, while expressing sympathy to the families of those killed in the attack.
The statement also extended wishes for the recovery of those injured, noting that attacks on religious sites undermine peace, security and coexistence within societies. The Maldives reaffirmed its rejection of terrorism in all forms and said such acts pose a threat not only to national security but also to shared moral and religious principles.
The Government further expressed solidarity with Pakistan in the aftermath of the incident and reiterated its support for international efforts to counter terrorism and violent extremism.
