President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has stated that providing grants and loans to individuals working across various sectors is a key policy of the Government.
He made the remarks during a press briefing on Monday.
The President noted that facilitating opportunities for people engaged in different fields, including businesses, fishermen, farmers and youth, to progress is a priority of his Administration.
President Dr Muizzu said that financial support remains a major focus of Government policy, with efforts ongoing to expand access to assistance. He highlighted that following SME Digital becoming a subsidiary of the Bank of Maldives (BML), work is underway to further ease access to financing for individuals across various sectors.
He emphasised that enabling such opportunities, particularly for those working in different professions, is an important policy direction of the Government. As an example, he pointed to the recently introduced loan schemes for content creators.
The President also stated that issuing small and medium-sized loans across different sectors is part of his Administration’s policy framework. He added that the Government is exploring ways to expand opportunities for artists and creative professionals.
In addition, President Dr Muizzu stated that grants will also be introduced for those engaged in arts and creative work.
