The Parliament member for Funadhoo Constituency, Mohamed Mamdooh has credited the collaborative efforts of the Government for steering the Maldives away from the brink of economic collapse.

Speaking on MMTV's Bodu Khabaru Programme, Mamdooh stated that the country was on the verge of default and financial instability when President Dr Mohamed Muizzu assumed office and highlighted that decisive measures implemented by the Government in stabilising the economy.

According to Mamdooh, the previous administration's approach to economic management, including excessive money printing and reliance on unsustainable borrowing, had significantly contributed to the financial challenges faced by the nation.

Acknowledging the fiscal approach of the current Administration, Mamdooh highlighted the Government's commitment to maintaining financial discipline by avoiding money printing, refraining from withdrawing funds from the central bank, and ensuring no defaults on financial obligations.

Additionally, Mamdooh noted that the Government's initiatives are not limited to economic recovery, emphasising the importance of recent constitutional amendments aimed at safeguarding the Maldives' sovereignty. He expressed confidence that these changes will act as a critical safeguard, preventing future compromises on the nation's independence.
