President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has departed on Tuesday morning for a three-day tour of North Thiladhunmathi Atoll (Haa Alifu Atoll), beginning with Haa Alifu Muraidhoo.
A delegation comprising Cabinet members and senior Government officials accompanies the President on this tour, which concludes Thursday.
The visit encompasses multiple inauguration ceremonies for infrastructure developments across the region. These include the opening of new Police Stations, Council Secretariat, and a cold storage facility.
The President's schedule also features the rollout of national identification and passport services, alongside the launch of the Magey Solar programme.
In a move to enhance financial accessibility, the tour will witness the formalisation of partnerships between local councils and the Bank of Maldives, establishing ATM facilities as part of the Government's commitment to expanding banking services nationwide.
Throughout his stay, the President plans to engage with various local governing bodies, including meetings with Island and Atoll Councils, along with representatives from Women's Development Committees and heads of local institutions.
His itinerary covers ten islands in the atoll: Utheemu, Thakandhoo, Uligamu, Molhadhoo, Hoarafushi, Ihavandhoo, Muraidhoo, Maarandhoo, Filladhoo, and Dhihdhoo.
