The Maldives' new offshore bunkering service has already earned USD 1.5 million in revenue, despite challenging economic conditions. Launched on 19 September, the service, in partnership with Vitol and led by the State Trading Organisation (STO), is expected to generate USD 400 million annually and significantly boost the economy. The initiative is part of the Maldives Economic Gateway project, which includes building a new port and international finance centre, while the Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) is also providing vital maritime services to support bunkering operations.
