Maldivian swimmer Aishath Ulya Shaig has broken two national records at the Swimming Western Australia Hancock Prospecting State Championships.

She set a new record in the women’s long course 50m backstroke, finishing in 34.18 seconds. The previous record of 34.32 seconds was held by Aishath Sausan, set at the 11th Indian Ocean Island Games in 2023.

In the women’s long course 50m freestyle, Ulya also surpassed her own previous record of 29.29 seconds—set at the 11th Asian Age Group Aquatics Championships—by clocking in at 28.64 seconds.
