President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has inaugurated the extension wing of the Maaen'boodhoo Health Center, to enhance healthcare services in the region.
As part of his tour of all inhabited islands in Dhaalu Atoll, the President visited Maaen'boodhoo and officially opened the new facility today.
Following the inauguration, the person in charge of the Maaen'boodhoo Health Centre spoke to state media, PSM, highlighting the impact of the expansion. He noted that the health centre previously faced space constraints, with both administrative work and public health services being conducted in a single room. With the new building, these services will now have the necessary space to operate efficiently and effectively.
The extended wing includes a public healthcare unit, a smoking cessation clinic, a respiratory disease clinic, a maternal health clinic, and a child health clinic. These additions are expected to significantly improve access to specialised healthcare services for the local community.
Healthcare remains a key focus of the State Budget 2025, alongside housing and education. This year, the government has allocated funds to complete hospitals and health centres across the Maldives, reaffirming its commitment to strengthening the national healthcare system.
