President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has firmly assured that not even the smallest degree of influence was exerted in compiling the flat allocation list announced by the Government on Thursday.
Speaking at the reopening ceremony of Izzuddin Jetty at Jumhooree Maidhaan on Thursday night, following the redevelopment of the jetty, the President emphasised the transparency of the process.
He stated that the list was only published after the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) reviewed irregularities in the previous government's list and ensured strict adherence to the established point-based criteria.
President Dr Muizzu stressed that any removals from the list were based on clear, justifiable reasons, and that absolutely no one was deliberately excluded. He described his Administration as one committed to equality, justice, and fulfilling promises to citizens.
He highlighted that, since he began reviewing housing matters, this was the first time a housing recipient list had been released without external influence. He encouraged those not included to submit complaints through the official process within the stipulated timeframe.
Looking ahead, the President stated that once the complaint period concludes and all concerns are addressed, flats will be allocated first to rightful recipients. Any remaining units will then be assigned based on awarded points under the established criteria.
Reassuring the public, he affirmed that even those not included in this list will still have opportunities for home ownership through major housing projects in the Malé area. He guaranteed that every citizen aged 18 and above residing in Malé will have access to housing under these initiatives.
