Maldivian Aero plans to launch direct flights to South Africa and Germany this year as part of its international expansion. The Transport Minister emphasised the strategic importance of a Malé-Johannesburg route, which will cut travel time from 24 hours to 8 hours. The airline introduced an Airbus A330-200 in January for flights to China and aims to acquire another wide-body aircraft to expand services to Europe.
