MPL clears over 1,300 containers in final week of August

Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) has reported the clearance of 1,359 containers between 24 and 30 August 2025, reflecting ongoing activity in the country’s busiest port.
According to the company, the total included 553 twenty-foot containers and 403 forty-foot containers, contributing to overall cargo throughput during the week.
During the same period, MPL handled three container vessels and three general cargo vessels, ensuring steady flow of goods into the capital.
The weekly update also highlighted the clearance of large volumes of perishable cargo, with 14,540 packages of eggs and 11,617 packages of onions topping the list. Other goods included 5,647 packages of potatoes, 5,415 watermelons, 3,672 tomatoes, 2,157 cabbages, 2,087 bananas, 1,819 pineapples, 806 pumpkins, and 539 sweet melons.
