VP expresses confidence in women’s volleyball national team ahead of CAVA Cup

The Vice President made the remarks while attending a ceremony to hand over jerseys to the senior women’s volleyball national team, where he praised the players’ performance in previous tournaments and encouraged them to give their best in the upcoming competition.
Speaking at the event, The Vice President said he had closely followed several matches from last year’s tournament and believes the team has the potential to lift the trophy this year. He noted that the expectations of the Maldivian people are high and encouraged the players to rise to the occasion.
The Vice President also highlighted ongoing efforts by the Ministry of Sports, Fitness and Recreation to improve volleyball infrastructure across the country, including the development of courts and initiatives to identify and nurture talented players. He stressed the importance of national team players serving as role models for young athletes.
Describing the CAVA Cup as a valuable opportunity for the team, the VP said he hopes the players will perform with pride on home soil and deliver results that inspire the nation. He further called on the public to rally behind the team and show their support throughout the tournament.
The Women’s CAVA Cup 2025 will feature teams from the Maldives, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Kyrgyzstan and Turkmenistan, with matches set to be played at the Social Centre Indoor Hall. The Maldives finished as runners-up in last year’s tournament after reaching the final.
